What can I expect from my physiotherapy session and how should I prepare?

It is advised to wear loose fitting comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes if possible to allow for ease of movement. If you take regular prescribed medications please have this list to hand for your initial assessment. Your initial assessment will include a discussion regarding your current abilities and aims for the future followed by a functional review. We will then discuss options moving forward to best suit you.  

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No you can self refer for all services however it is possible for us to liaise with your GP as appropriate with your consent. If you have any acute medical concerns prior to commencing physiotherapy please gain advice from your GP. 

How much physiotherapy will I need?

This is specific to each individual and maintain function physiotherapy offers a wide range of follow up options. Following your initial assessment we will discuss all treatment options and will be guided by your preferences. Taking advantage of our free telephone call will help to decide if this service is right for you. 

Can my family/friend attend the appointment with me?

Of course! We support whatever makes you feel most comfortable and we are happy to discuss therapy with your family with your consent. Please let us know if someone will be joining your session.

What is the cancellation policy? 

We understand that sometimes cancellations need to happen! However,we do ask for 48 working hours notice for cancellations or amendments to avoid a £15 charge.
